6 Tips for Writing an Awesome Scholarship Essay

6 Tips for Writing an Awesome Scholarship Essay via Pexels.com 1. Proofread, proofread, proofread. If you dont proofread through your work the scholarship committee is going to think you rushed through the application. We all know time is money, so if you did indeed rush through the scholarship essay writing process, at least make it look like you didnt. The last thing these people want to read is misspelled words, incorrect usage of commas, and subject-verb disagreement. 2. Set yourself completely apart. Youve probably read this tip if youve done any kind of research on writing a killer scholarship essay. But this is truly the best advice I can give you. Everyone has a story to tell. And the people with the money  want to hear that story.  They want to know what it took to get through high school (walking uphill both ways kind of stuff). They want to know how sick your mom got, and how you became her primary caregiver while you were a sophomore, and thats why your grades in math are a little below average. Tell  your  story in a way that sets you apart from all the other applicants. Its your opportunity to show how much you deserve this scholarship money. 3. Portray your message in a unique way. Everyone begins their essay as to why they want to become a teacher with, Ive known ever since I started Kindergarten that I wanted to become a teacher. And then they go on to talk about how much they like being around children, specifically whichever age group theyre hoping to work with in their career. After a scholarship committee reads about 15 of those same essays, theyre tired of them! Theyre looking to award money to creative individuals, with passionate voices in their writing. Theyre looking for a student who can portray a message like no other. Maybe youre better at writing poetry, rather than prose. Maybe your mind is better with music. Whatever it is show it off. Tell your story, speak your mind, in a way thats different from the rest of the crowd. 4. Give yourself time for multiple drafts. Aside from creating a rough draft and going through the editing process multiple times, youre going to need some breather days. My teacher used to call these days the days that you wouldnt touch a draft of a paper. Youd sleep on it for two nights without doing anything to it. Coming back to your work with fresh eyes will always give you room to improve your work. 5. Get multiple opinions on the final copy. When your best friend is the only person who reads your scholarship essay, the feedback you receive is going to be a little bit biased. You should make sure you get multiple opinions on your final copy. Give it to both of your parents, your teachers, your friends, etc. Anyone you trust to give you good feedback is a good source! 6. Choose a catchy title. Reel your reader in from the first line of your essay by creating a title that will really speak to them. You want them to read your title and say WOW. I cant wait to read this. The tone of your essay will be set with your title. So choose carefully. Why I Want to Be a Teacher The Best Day of My Life My Dog, Sam All of these examples above are titles of papers you wrote when you were in middle school not when you were trying to win money from a group of people. Put more than five minutes of thought into your title and choose something that will really connect with your audience. As you begin writing (or editing) your scholarship essay, remember to keep in mind who your audience is. Remember that youre writing to a group of people who have no idea who you are. You need to grab their attention from the title and take them on the literary journey of a lifetime. Intrigue them. Persuade them. Show them why youre worthy of this scholarship. Good luck!

Organic Chemistry Tutor - My Schrodinger Equation For Organic Chemistry

Organic Chemistry Tutor - My Schrodinger Equation For Organic ChemistryA few months ago I started taking a science course in college with an Organic Chemistry tutor. We would be studying and do labs together each week. My motivation was that I wanted to learn how to make a solid, chemical, and/or biological connection between chemical compounds. The Organic Chemistry tutor, whose last name I forgot, taught quite a bit of chemistry and with his teaching style, I knew he could help me develop a solid and cohesive concept. From the very beginning of our first lab he introduced me to differential equations. For those of you who aren't familiar with them, they are similar to what is found in algebra, but instead of using numbers and shapes to represent things, they are the variables representing physical states of matter. He had me start by figuring out my own Schrodinger equation. The first step was to figure out my own Schrodinger equation. This equation is one of the most important equat ions in science, that is how all chemical reactions and the elements in our bodies are created. Any chemist knows this equation and will know why I chose it as my first one.To find my own Schrodinger equation, I simply replaced any number or shape with anything that represented the properties of matter. I figured out what some of the items that fit most closely to my physical states looked like, and then I substituted them for some of the electrons that were part of my molecule. It took a while to get used to different variables and having to figure out how to combine them in the right way so they can give me the exact value I wanted, but the concepts of how to connect and create a chemical bond were being introduced to me everyday. And as the semester continued, I would discover more connections between molecules and physical states, to different types of compounds, and I would get the occasional chemical reaction to occur.I had no idea how to put my newly developed knowledge into p ractice, but I was determined to. So, my Organic Chemistry tutor came up with a good way to measure my progress in the lab, he used a light bulb to show me which end of the lab where I stood. I was happy to see that I was getting closer to the end of the lab, and I knew I would soon have a chance to do the experiment my school and teacher had told me to do. But first, I had to find a way to test how well I was doing. So, I tested my time in the lab and discovered that I was the only one in the class who knew that experiment. Well, as the semester went on I began to notice that everyone else in the class was trying to run their experiments and making progress, so I began to follow along.

How to Stick to Your 2018 Goals Tips From Introverted Celebrities Whove Done It in the Past - Introvert Whisperer

Introvert Whisperer / How to Stick to Your 2018 Goals Tips From Introverted Celebrities Who’ve Done It in the Past - Introvert Whisperer How to Stick to Your 2018 Goals: Tips From Introverted Celebrities Who’ve Done It in the Past Kayla Matthews January 1, 2018 Career Development, Self-Promotion No responses Go to top Most of us are either extroverts or introverts. Extroverts find their energy from other people and usually crave the company of others, while introverts recharge with alone time and often become overwhelmed by overstimulation. There is no right or wrong personality, but a fair amount of misunderstanding exists in today’s society when it comes to extroverts versus introverts. Since grade school, teachers have coached children to come out of their shell and interact more with others, as if reading a book by yourself instead of playing on the playground indicates social anxiety. We’ve grown up with the belief that we are supposed to be as social as we can be to fit in and be accepted. However, some of the most successful people in history were or are introverts. Read on for ten tips from introverted celebrities. 1.  Bill Gates “Well, I think introverts can do quite well. If youre clever you can learn to get the benefits of being an introvert, which might be, say, being willing to go off for a few days and think about a tough problem, read everything you can, push yourself very hard to think out on the edge of that area.” Bill Gates The Microsoft founder and philanthropist wants you to know introverts can be very successful in life. He’s living proof. There are benefits to being an introvert that extroverts don’t often have. Use your ability to retain knowledge, analyze a problem and come up with solutions. Being able to think on your own is a gift. 2. Emma Watson   “I’m kind of an introverted kind of person just by nature, it’s not like a conscious choice that I’m making necessarily. It’s genuinely who I am …coming to realize that about myself was very empowering.” Emma Watson The actress and activist has always fought to find her own identity, especially after her “Harry Potter” days came to an end. Her declaration of how genuine she is empowers others around the world â€" you can do the same. Continue to be yourself and empower people. Have your own mission. 3. Steven Spielberg “I never felt comfortable with myself, because I was never part of the majority. I always felt awkward and shy and on the outside of the momentum of my friends’ lives.” Steven Spielberg One of the most famous directors of our time openly admits he would rather watch back-to-back movies on the weekends than go out. Like many other introverts, Spielberg relates to not quite fitting in with his friends or the majority, which allows room for personal growth and creativity. Express yourself in your own way. 4. Eleanor Roosevelt   “Friendship with oneself is all important, because without it one cannot be friends with anyone else in the world.”Eleanor Roosevelt While the former First Lady is often remembered for her shyness, she eventually came out of her shell and had strong opinions about life. She’s even been referred to as the introvert who wouldn’t keep quiet. Her words still ring true in today’s world â€" love yourself above all else, before you can love others. 5.  Albert Einstein   “The monotony and solitude of a quiet life stimulates the creative mind.” Albert Einstein Einstein believed that solitude and time alone is really sacred â€" that this time should not be looked at as being all alone because it’s a strength. Don’t be afraid to be alone with your own thoughts and self-reflect on your life and its path. Is there something you want to do differently? Do it. 6. Mahatma Gandhi   “In a gentle way, you can shake the world.”Mahatma Gandhi You don’t have to be loud and outspoken to prove a point or be heard. In fact, introverts have subtle and effective ways of sharing their thoughts and ideas. Bring positive change to the world with simple things like kindness towards others. 7. Andy Warhol   “People are always so boring when they band together. You have to be alone to develop all the idiosyncrasies that make a person interesting.” Andy Warhol You’ve heard the saying that you should always be a leader, not a follower. Time alone will teach you about yourself and help you to form your own opinions and ideas. Don’t feel pressure to conform to those around you. Stand out. 8. Stephen Hawking   “Quiet people have the loudest minds.” Stephen Hawking Introverts are often quiet because they are thinking â€" always stuck in their minds about something. Hawking wasn’t concerned with being the life of the party. He was more entertained inside of his own mind, a mind that was always running, like a machine. Take care of your machine and nurture it. With it, you can do anything. 9. Selena Gomez   “I’m not trying to get validation, nor do I need it anymore If youre broken, you do not have to stay broken.” Selena Gomez You do not owe anyone anything. What’s most important in life is that you find your happiness and stay true to yourself. None of us are perfect even if we pretend to be. So admit your faults and work on them. Validation from others will not feed your soul. 10. Steve Wozniak   “Im going to give you some advice that might be hard to take. That advice is: Work alone. Not on a committee. Not on a team.” Steve Wozniak Most of us grew up with our teachers putting us in small groups to work, which many of us loved because it took off the pressure of thinking on your own. You can’t learn to think and act on your own if you are being influenced by everyone else. There are many careers perfect for introverts where you can work alone while growing your interests and thinking creatively. Do things alone, and watch your imagination bloom. Although extroversion is viewed as the ideal in today’s world, introversion has become more accepted and understood. It’s these quiet thinkers who discover groundbreaking technology and create our greatest works of literature and music. These introverts are our influential leaders, our inspiration and our future. Comparing fractions 2

Comparing fractions 2 Learning about fractions is one of the basic and important topics in math. A fraction is number written in p/q form. Where p is the numerator and q is the denominator of the fraction. The denominator of a fraction cannot be equal to zero i.e. q not equal to zero. Different mathematical operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division can be used to compare any two fraction numbers. While comparing fractions we can check if the fractions are less than, greater than or equivalent to each other. Example 1: Compare the two fractions 7/10 and 9/10. Which of them is a smaller fraction? Solution: Given are two fractions 7/10 and 9/10. Here both the fractions have the common denominator 10. Since the denominator is the same compare the numerators of the two fractions. The fraction with the smaller numerator is the smaller fraction. This gives 7 10. Therefore, 7/10 9/10. Hence, 7/10 is the smaller fraction. Question: Multiple choice question (Pick the correct option.) Compare the fractions according to the shaded region in the circle below? Which fraction is greater? 3/6 4/6 a) 3/6 b) 4/6 c) They are equal. d) None of these. Correct answer: option b. Explanation: Are two fractions 3/6 and 4/6. In the fraction 3/6, 3 out of 6 regions are shaded. In the fraction 4/6, 4 out of 6 regions are shaded. Since the denominators have the same value the fraction with the greater numerator is greater. Hence 4/6 is greater.
